Let's Think through Literacy!

The new resource for developing thinking through speaking, listening and drama.

This course is suitable for the following, working within the 9 -12 primary age range:

Course Information

The new Literacy framework for schools places greater emphasis on the skills of speaking and listening. It states that “Practitioners must support children’s learning and competence in communicating speaking and listening …. They must also work to give children the confidence, opportunity, encouragement, support and disposition to use their skills in a range of situations and for a range of purposes.”

This new training programme for developing thinking in nine to eleven year olds, using cognitive acceleration techniques will be delivered by Ken Gouge and Carolyn Yates, the authors of Let’s Think through Literacy!

Children’s literacy is improved by developing their ability to think logically, enquire, reason and process different kinds of information. Many years of rigorous evaluation have shown that cognitive acceleration develops these types of reasoning and has substantial, positive effects on pupils’ cognitive growth, so raising attainment.

Training includes a copy of Let’s Think through Literacy! with photocopy-free pupils’ resources, supported by detailed teacher’s notes and lesson plans. The lessons have been extensively trialed by teachers in Scotland, England and Wales.

Cost

The cost of this 2 day course is £289, and includes a copy of the book Let's Think through Literacy! which has a retail value of £55.

Lunch and refreshments included for both days.
